FEEDING ISSUES


Feeding and Swallowing Disorders
are diagnosed, assessed and treated by Victoria Stockton, who focuses on gently helping your child acquire the skills necessary to become a successful oral feeder. Treatment will focus on identifying the cause of the disorder, developing a plan to address both behavioral and physical concomitants, and educating the family and caregivers.

Victoria will work with you and your child to address the following physical and behavioral feeding and swallowing issues in your own home:

  • Dysphagia (or swallowing disorders) challenges during the transition to becoming an oral feeder

  • Expertise in implementing dietary changes for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Allergies (i.e. gluten-casein free, Specific Carbohydrate Diet, Anti-yeast diet)

  • Pierre Robin Sequence, Down Syndrome or other challenges

  • Sensory issues

  • Oral motor planning impairments

  • Learning to tolerate and experience different food textures and tastes to maintain an adequate intake of nutrition

  • Expanding the range of foods eaten

  • Behavioral strategies to promote age-appropriate feeding skills

  • Assessing how efficient the child is at self-feeding and modifying any obstacles that hinder the intake of adequate nutrition
